This week we will begin reading Folk Tales/fables. We will be discussing the elements of the folk tale, as well as looking for differences between folk tales and fairy tales. We will be reading; The Three Little Pigs, The Gingerbread Man, The Lion and the Mouse and a few other famous Aesop Fables. Folk tales and fables have animals in them, animals act like human and there is always a lesson to be learned at the end of the story. The children will get to act out and re-tell a few of the stories as we finish reading and discussing them in the classroom.
MATH
We will continue to work on shapes and geometry. We learned about the attributes of plane shapes last week, and how to sort them based on different attributes (color, shape, sides, corners and size) This week we will begin to focus on three-dimensional geometric figures.
SOCIAL STUDIES
This week, we will finish out our discussions about movement and force, and will begin our Social Studies unit on Community, needs and wants. We will learn about how families meet their basic needs and also discuss the affect technology has had on daily life in the community.
