Dear Families,
Is it me, or is this entire year going by very quickly so far? This goes to show how much we need to value each day and focus on quality time with our children! This week was packed with excitement and learning as our favorite fire fighter Danny Oliver gave a presentation on fire safety to the entire 1st grade level. I was given the honor of being the firefighter for of the day. Let me tell you that fire fighting gear is heavy stuff! If you want to build some muscles in your legs, go get a pair of those boots! It is also quite hot in their fireproof suits. I can’t imagine the heat when they go fight a fire. My appreciation, that was already BIG, has grown even more for these wonderful people who are available around the clock to protect us!
It is amazing how many things one can do with hearts! We sorted, categorized, graphed, and wrote about hearts. We cut out hearts and wrote heart shaped poems about love. We ended the day indulging in some of the things that we love – family, friends, chocolate, balloons, ice cream, crafts, photos of ourselves…! Seriously, thank you a million times over to all of the parents who attended the party, sent supplies in for it, and stayed and helped clean up after it! You are by far the BEST PARENTS a teacher could ever dream about!
By the way, I gave a homework pass to each student. The pass is good for one night’s assignment (not the whole week). Apparently, there was some confusion amongst the children on this one. J It was wishful thinking, I suppose!
Now for the scoop for next week…
