Reading Workshop:
This week we will be continuing with the non-fiction genre for reading workshop. Our focus will be to learn about the research process: how to find a subject to research, which books to read first, and the importance of taking notes as we read.
Writer’s Workshop…
We will put the research writing process into action this week as we learn that research writers need to include facts that teach in their writing. We will share about topics that we are interested in and that we have questions about. Research writing is different from “All About” writing because we are not already experts on the subject that we are going to research.
Math:
As we are continuing to build that strong foundation in the fundamentals of addition in order to develop efficient mental computations as part of our logical, step-by-step approach to learning math, we will be exploring the world around us with “Doubles” and “Doubles Plus” strategies in mind.
Science:
We are on week three of our natural resources unit. Our focus this week will be soil and water. We will observe, examine and record data about the similarities and differences between three types of soil. We will also record journal entries as we learn about the unique characteristics of the different types and bodies of water in our world.
